The Molly Hadfield Social Justice Oration is a community event held annually in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event is a tribute to respected Darebin resident Molly Hadfield OAM, who worked tirelessly to advance women’s and seniors rights.
This year’s oration will explore intergenerational sisterhood and will feature artistic performances and Celeste Liddle as the key note speaker.
Celeste Liddle is an Arrernte woman who was born in Canberra and has been living in Melbourne for 23 years. She is the current National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Organiser for the National Tertiary Education Union and also serves on their Women's Action Committee.
Celeste is a social commentator, freelance writer and public speaker. In 2012 she started her blog “Rantings of an Aboriginal Feminist” and has contributed articles to Daily Life (Fairfax), The Guardian Australia, Tracker and a number of other publications.
Celeste has been a guest at the All About Women and Women of the World festivals and contributed to anthologies such as Mothers and Others (published by Pan McMillan in 2015). She is a graduate of both La Trobe University and the University of Melbourne.
